Repotted a plant I received as after cancer surgery. I’m happy, and I hope the plant is happy too. It has better drainage and fresh potting soil.

Wow! A had stored my craftsman tiller for almost 2 years. This afternoon I went out to get as (4.50 per gallon). I 1/2 filled the gas tank, checked oil (later work), seemed to be OK. Moved the throttle, adjusted the choke, ands it started on the first pull. Excellent Sears product!

Here it is 1 September and I have been so blessed with my garden this summer. I even had a 2.062lb. tomato (the biggest I’ve grown yet). Also, having good luck with my carrots. Finished pulling them today, and the length of each carrot is about 9 inch long.

Have been blessed by growing the largest, with great taste, tomato this summer. It was 2.062lb. It ws a German Heirloom tomato. Also, the best year for my carrots (they were at least 9 inches long). They were so long that for some, I couldn’t did down deep enough to extract them. My gardening has been indeed been blessed.

Had a chainsaw that just wouldn’t work. Took the saw to 3-4 service shops and they couldn’t fix it. Was told to throw it in the trash, so I did last night. This morning I thought the metal is going to go in the land fill. I went outside and pulled device from the trash bin (to take to a recycling center). At this time I saw my neighbor and asked if he would like to take this unit (his son works on cars). I told him I don’t want it back. Soooooooo….I’m saving the earth (on earth day). Though, I’m wondering if I’m just passing the buck? 😦

New Year – mowed front yard. I didn’t even see anyone on foot, just many cars. When I got done it started to snow!

I was out with my electric snow blower (cordless) [saving the earth:)] and was having difficulties with the icy snow that had fallen. So…I was hand shoveling. My neighbor, who was operating a “rebuilt” snapper snow blower (powerful) told be he would take care of removing the snow. When I told him I wanted to save the earth, he said me too!, I accepted his offer. In a little bit more than 1.5 hours he cleared out snow for three of his thankful neighbors driveways. I appreciate his hospitality. Thank you.

Learned today from another Master Gardner that its possible to put cinnamon of the urn that holds flowers that I tend yearly (4 years) to protect against sugar eating ants. These ants are munching down the leaves and stems for these flowers. This past weekend I removed (cleaned out) the plants that were hurt by the ants (and recently)..the snow too. Will try this “blocking” technique next year. Thanks Peg. 🙂

As the mowing season is about to end, would like to document that I used an electric mower (cordless) 34 times this summer, I’m very thankful for having this “electric” option. It’s not much (limiting CO2) to affect climate change. Coming up, it’s snow season. Guess what??? I have an electric snow blower too. SAVE THE EARTH!

Was at the Brewer vs. Houston b-ball game over labor day; while leaving the stadium I slipped on a wet floor and lost my balance. The person behind me supported (caught) me from falling (didn’t see this person, but they had very firm hands). I’m very thankful for this act of kindness!

Have always been wondering about the “mercy seat”. From the web – GOTQUESTIONS is says:
On top of the ark was a lid called the mercy seat on which rested the cloud or visible symbol of the divine presence. Here God was supposed to be seated, and from this place He was supposed to dispense mercy to man when the blood of the atonement was sprinkled there.
So it’s Gods seat (righteousness), or value about what’s in the Arc. I’m blessed to know!

Mowed the yard again with the cordless electric. This year the mark is 15 yard cutting times. Robins stop and land in the yard and it seems that they are thanking me (or that’s what I think :)) for helping keep the air cleaner..

Today, for my Robust Ron’s Yard Service, I initiated a $1 charge if you desire to have your yard mowed using a internal combustion engine (IC) rather than using the electric version. So … what am I going to do with this $1 tariff? 🙂 (If I receive any money)

I am so thankful to be back in Rockford for good for awhile. I finished my internship as well as all of my classes for undergrad. Now I can focus on healing from some pretty heavy stuff that happened to me over the semester. And to start off with that healing, I spent the afternoon/evening with my grandparents and the Scriber. We shared lots of laughs, good stories, and of course, pizza; as is our Sunday night tradition. It is good to be home.

The Scriber is working on learning to play the harmonica. First off; I’m blessed because I can read some music which makes learning a little easier, and second; this is an excellent tool (harmonica) in the attempt to improve my breathing sequence(s).

Now I have not done the math (or researched the topic), but I was reading a book titles “Bringing Nature Home” and it was talking about the excess use of CO2. I knew that, but it stated that mowing your yard for an hour produces the same amount of CO2 as traveling on a 650 mile trip. This makes me pretty happy because I’m saving “saving the earth” using an electric mower (cordless).

Ya Know; In reading the Bible, I came across the text of the book of life. This subject is very debatable and has lots of possible interpretations. One thought is that God knows if you are in the book of life (or not/which could mean going to heaven or not). Then, you have free choice if you accept Jesus Christ (but he also knows if you do or don’t accept Christ). It’s like a catch-22 referring to scriptures in Corinthians. Anyway, I would like to think that an asterisk was put by my name because today I helped save the earth by using a cordless electric snow blower to clean off two driveways. I’m thinking (numbers guy) that I’ve probably decreased the CO2 by 1 X 10(-23)%. It’s not much, it’s not economically proficient, and the quality on the job wasn’t comparable to gas blower, but I’m just taking “one for the team”. No, I’m not boasting, but I thank God for giving me the desire to try to do “something” to help save the earth.

Tonight was our last night of orientation for Chicago…to celebrate, we went bowling! I was not in a very good mood going into it, but I had so much fun, and was very happy by the end of it. One of our professors was on each of our teams, so we were able to bond with them more. I am thankful for this amazing opportunity to live and to learn here.

My housemates are such a blessing to me. These first two weeks in Chicago have been difficult because January 9th was the 3 year anniversary of my mom passing way. I was nervous about being away from my family and my Luther friends for that, but my housemates have been so supportive. They each have so many beautiful qualities that make them perfect for the fields they are going into. I am honored to be living with these people. They are going to make wonderful social workers, teachers, and world changers someday. ❤

Frey and Sophia visited me in Chicago on Friday. It was sort of an impromptu visit and I couldn’t have been more thrilled! We had such a wonderful time laughing, catching up, and eating REALLY GOOD food! They were the first people to visit me here and my heart was full when they left.

This week I am thankful for being able to spend time with my two best friends in Rockford. Leah and Catherine have been there for me through emotional highs and lows, some very nihilistic periods, reminding me that living each day brings more meaning and happiness when I have doubted that. Even times where we are just grocery shopping or doing homework together, I feel so lucky. ❤

I’m feeling so blessed today. Not only did I get to see my cousin Ron and my Aunt Joey and my Uncle Arley on a beautiful sunny January day but I had a suprise on the drive down from Madison. You can now drive 70 mph on I90! Spending time with loved ones on a beautiful sunny day and being able to cruise along on the interstate, it doesnt get any better than that!!

Greeting friends at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd. First, I would like to thank Ron for offering to post this on the website for me. Bless his warm heart.
May this season be filled with good health and God’s blessing for all of you, and all that you love. May the light of faith shine down upon not just the congregation but also on our church building as well. This is a very special place. It is this church and it’s people that have given me the chance to feel Faith’s light. To name them all would take a novel to write, so I’m just going to name two. They are Ron’s nieces Jana and Leah Mueller.
Over the last 8-9 years we have shared many stories, laughs, projects, and yes…times of sorrow. Yet we remain friends and they have made me a better person and a better servant for Christ (just for being who they are). These are the true gifts of Christmas along with communication, compassion, and compromise. Thank you Jana and Leah, I will always be a heathen, but you never held that against me. So I implore that anyone who reads this, come to Good Shepherd and find your “light” of faith to free your soul (or another persons soul).

I’m so thankful for my “stocking stuffer” of a breakfast this morning. Gumpy took us all out for our traditional after-Thanksgiving family breakfast. We went and picked out a tree and now we are sitting at the scriber’s house enjoying each other’s company. I am so thankful for my family. They bring me a lot of joy and happiness.

Went to the Luther college Web Site and saw Jana speaking at chapel (https://www.luther.edu/connect/streaming/), select on demand and que in Jana Mueller. Jana talked about the difficulties with the loss of her Mom (Lori). It was a good talk and many people greeted her with a hug after the service. Jana’s talk made me feel good.

Just got back from Luther College seeing the var1 sity band play. This was Jana’s last (scheduled) concert at Luther. Music was good, and of course I snapped a few pictures. Our experience at Pizza. Hut was 😦 , but we still had a good visit!

Had an experience with an oven repair guy this morning to fix a problem with the oven. Baked cookies on 11/2/2018 and the light for the oven couldn’t be turned off. Checked the manuals/internet found nothing, then flipped the breaker to turn off the power. We all thought it was like a “mother board”. The repair guy came, turned on the breaker, pushed a few buttons, and said he was going to run a few tests. Getting ready for his test he opened and closed the lower oven door and noticed that the cookie pan was engaging a switch (whitch I could not see or find from my research). So after repositioning the cookie sheets the light now turns off. Do I feel stupid…..DAAHHHHHHHH 😦 , but blessed with the outcome. (more cookies!…..and prep for turkey in a couple weeks).

I encourage all to take a day trip up to Holy Hill, near Milwaukee Wis. At this catholic bascilica I believe you will feel closer to God than anywhere else on earth. It is especially pretty in the Fall when leaves are turning. I am blessed to have gone up there recently & enjoyed a light lunch in their small cafeteria. Also, did a day bus trip thru RVC to Milwaukee, Wis & seen a German Catholic church in the morning, and then went to Grace Evangelical Lutheran in the afternoon where I learned a good portion of their attendees are younger. Amazing huh? So I am attempting to contact them & maybe make a couple visits during their services to learn what their secret is, and maybe help our congregation to grow.

The Spiritual Growth Guy, following the Bible reading spreadsheet, read Acts 1-2. Judas received an award for his wickedness (as per scripture) [Now I could not remember that}. Then the Holy Spirit came on Pentecost allow “all together” the Holy Spirit filled them and allowed them to speak in tongues. NOW I CAN REFER TO HOW THE HOLY SPIRIT CAME.

I had a really wonderful day today. For my macro social work practice class, we are doing a project around nonpartisan voter engagement. So I have been getting the opportunity to talk to classes as a whole and my peers individually about the importance of exercising their rights and using their voice. We had early voting on campus today and I was able to talk to many people across the political spectrum. I also had a wonderful conversation with a professor from my first year about a change project I am working on surrounding disability rights and accessibility. In that same conversation, we talked for awhile about life updates as well as queerness, and it was simply wonderful. I am surrounded by incredible minds and beautiful people. I am thankful for today.

I am thankful for my family, my pets, and my friends! I’m thankful for the congregation of LCGS, for its wonderful pastor, and for the choir, and choir director! I am thankful for the good people I meet and work with at RPS205! And I am grateful for the beautiful parks of Rockford, where my dogs and I love to walk almost every day!

Thank you to the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd for the gift of space for Becca’s Closet, a ministry of Rockford Area Lutheran Ministries. Through this ministry about 750 young women have been blessed with formal dresses for prom and homecoming dances this year.

I am looking out at our Wisconsin pond, with the sun creating beautiful reflections of the trees in the golden water. Grateful seems an insignificant word when I experience this.
Hate to close up the cabin at the end of the month. But, the blessing side of this is that we are returning to our friends at Good Shepherd for the winter.

I am thankful for my daughter in CA getting a full time job with great benefits (she has been working 3 “part-time” jobs, together with many occasional, intermittent jobs for the past 3 years – having little time to sleep & eat decent meals). I am thankful for my son being blessed with better health, his 12 year -old son living with his family, & a newer van just as his other transportation was needing many repairs. I am thankful for my youngest child able to afford her latest major car repairs & improving her health. I am thankful for my siblings/nieces/nephews all working together in a loving relationship to take care of our parents during their last several years & now during the dispersal of their estate. I am thankful that at 68, I have my health & am able to care for myself & others. God is Good!!!

I had a wonderful day and a half with the scriber and my cousin Donnie. We experienced some great Luther and Decorah places and had many laughs together. I am so thankful that they were able to come out and visit me. This was the last time that the two of them will be here with me, as the next time, I will be in Chicago doing my social work practicum! Most excellent this morning. We had 39 people attend the after church service “conversation”. It was announced that we are going to have 2 additional “conversations” soon. Was sitting at a table of early church member (59 years was the most senior, other were 40’s and 50’s). It was discussed how well people get along with others (“like the choir, it seems to be growing”). We were blessed with good conversation and fellowship, can’t wait for our next “talk”.

Had an excellent visit with my niece at the U or I today. Have never been to such a big school to experience the situation of apartments and transportation issues to your classes. I’m used to a university on one big blog….Anyway, the situation along with her semester (computer science) looks good, and our breakfast was fantastic. We are all blessed!

Was shopping at Woodman’s today to buy stuff for a cookout. All my goods were scanned, she was going to fast for me to verify on the spot, and she stopped and said…:”that’s to much for that charcoal!”. So she rechecked and the price was for 2 bags…where I only had one. The price got adjusted and then walked to the car. I wouldn’t have noticed this extra charge until I reviewed my receipt (which wouldn’t be until tonight). So…she saved me money, relieved some stress, and diverted an additional trip to Woodman’s to settle up. I was truly blessed by her kindness! 🙂

The scriber feels really blessed with the turn out for Theology on Tap. We had a total of 11 attendees and we all respectively shared our thoughts about bread and “living water”. It was a good evening and am looking forward to our Oct. 23’s next meeting.

Well Ron, it’s a day before Theology on Tap, and I have to say something. School has been rough on me this year. I tried to get a teaching job, but was not selected. This is my fourth interview at the school I have worked at in 5 years. You would expect the ones that interview me, know how I would do, in teaching. I’ve got three pretty good classrooms, but the one that really hurts it the class I interviewed for. Classroom management is real bad, and I say to myself, “if I was the teacher, it wouldn’t be like this.” I’ve heard there is a reason for things when they don’t turn out for a person. I have to look at the bright side, and be happy I don;t have to be in that classroom for 6 and a half hours. It is brutal in there. I have at least 6 more years to work some where if this year doesn’t turn out for me. We shall see. I keep praying for something better. It may still happen, but I don’t think it will happen at the school I am at.

Feeling grateful as I look out the window at the sun shining on the trees on the other side of the pond. Still can’t believe that I am so fortunate to wake up to this scene in the morning. It also reminds me of how fragile our earth is and how we must ever be vigilant about how we care for it – including the policies and laws we make. Somewhere we seem to have forgotten that we are God’s stewards – not the owners.

So Blessed to have a group of CRAZY guys who love golf so much they will keep playing even though it is raining cats and dogs or when the temps would keep any sane person indoors.

Had my monthly book club meeting today and we discussed the book that’s listed above. Well, I received the plants by mail. This book basically says that the fig tree was at the starting point of time. With more discussion in our book club we could not think of a plant listed in the Bible more than the fig tree. The fig tree has a long history behind it. It can even grow in lava fields, and will help restore rain forests. So as the Spiritual Growth Guy I was inspired. DID YOU KNOW: that it’s “guessed” that the fig tree is about 80 million years older than humans. Then I think, what was God thinking when he tempted EVE with an apple (this book thought it might have been a fruit from the fig tree). Also, the fig wasps that only live a couple days, who die pollenating the seeds? Have been inspired/blessed with the hardy Chicago fig tree that was ordered. Lord, help me use your fig tree to spread YOUR Good News!

The scriber is a gardener. He is also in a book club. The book for this month is Gods, Wasps, and Stranglers by Mike Shanahan. This book is about fig trees. So I decided to purchase a small fig (plug) to help me enjoy (and learn) while I’m reading the book. The book https://www.oneforisrael.org/bible-based-teaching-from-israel/figs-in-the-bible/ reads: Throughout the scriptures, the plant becomes a symbol of prosperity, wellbeing, and security. Along with the vine, to sit under the plentiful shade of your own fig tree is the opitome of safety, peace and wellbeing in many Biblical passages. So the Spiritual Growth /guy will be waiting for the fig (ficus) in the mail. Maybe this fig will help me discover more peace.

I am so grateful for my new husband and daughters, new church family, my new inlaws, and John’s family. I am also very grateful for my Mom, my daughters & their families, my sisters & their husbands and families, and great friends. Without each of them & their love and prayers, I would not have survived the death of Steve. Then, by divine intervention, John came into my life. It is incomprehensible to me how one person can be so fortunate to have met two soulmates. While I have seen much suffering, I have received so very many blessings. I am so very grateful for each and every one of them. Thank you!

my grandma and i just bought our dream home in sunny florida where we plan on filling it with visits from family and friends . it is hopefully a place where we can grow and heal together. this js our natural next stel and i cannot be more grateful. on sunday i move back into school to start my last semester of school with my very best friends in the world. it is hard to find things to not be grateful about lately and i feel very truly blessed

Today I was able to go to a networking event for women. It made me feel very greatful to work for a company that supported professional women. As I looked around the room, I realized that every woman that was invited to the event had a college degree. So, I am thankful for my education. It’s a gift that has opened many doors for me.

Just had my last day at my summer internship and it was such a blessing to meet so many wonderful people. I feel like I have a better understanding of what I want to do in the world post-graduation, which is a much welcomed blessing. I am also so grateful for my wonderful friends that are near and far and make this a wonderful word to live in.

Had a great time with the Scriber this morning. He took me on an Uncle-Niece date to Starbucks. We had great a conversation and made plans to do this every time I come home from school. I sure will miss him…and all of you, as I head back to school on Friday.

It’s my first time for me to comment on this website. I feel so blessed to have a wonderful family that includes a loving husband, three wonderful daughters, and five awesome grandkiddos. Another family that is important to me is my church family. I am so grateful that I have gotten to know so many of the members of Good Shepherd. I appreciate all they contribute to keep us strong.

Today was my first day after I have finished my job for the summer…I worked as an Inclusion Companion the the YMCA Camp Winnebago, where I helped to support kids with special needs and/or behavioral issues participate and enjoy camp. I am very thankful that it is over because it was a hard job (many days I would be slapped in the face, kicked, spit on, etc) and am thankful for the upcoming week of rest before I head back for my final traditional semester of college. AND, I am thankful for all that I have learned this summer. I built relationships with my coworkers and campers, enjoyed the beauty of the camp. I learned that it is okay to change up the game plan of the day to better fit the needs of a camper. And the biggest thing for me this summer, I re-learned how to play….something that I didn’t even know that I had lost…it is a beautiful thing.

The scriber was doing his daily bible read, and the spreadsheet directed me to Leviticus 16-18. You can go read my synopsis for these verses in bible readings, but my face smiled after reading these verses. Well, the scriber is not a fundamentalist with readings from the Bible, and a person who does not take meanings from the Old Testament, from part of my synopsis….. Beware of any sexual relation with other and/or animals. The Lord says be holy, keep my sabbath, don’t turn to idols. THIS IS LIKE THE TEN COMMANDMENTS, No witchcraft, and no tattoos.. An alien should be treated well. Keep all my statues. I just giggle about getting a tattoo, it would be fun to have, but have it for how long? In book of Leviticus, it looks like it might disrespect God? I JUST DON’T KNOW! Though, I do feel blessed that I haven’t scared Gods creation (had a few opportunities (a man thing)) Now if you feel different, please reply and let me know why it’s ok? I’m expecting a few replies NOW, is getting a tattoo a sin? I know everyone sins, …..BUT?

Just got home from a Brewers vs San Diego baseball game played at Miller Park (Milwaukee). We went out for lunch, watched baseball for a few hours, and shared fellowship with my cousin….it was nice.

Just got home from the ice cream social. Had a brat., chips, and soda for a few bucks, then ice cream (chocolate) and cake (yellow) for a dessert (provided and made by the congregation). Good entertainment selection – good and moderate. Left a little early, but did see many “new” people. Also saw Bob & Deb making the long journey to the social…but I didn’t make the effort to greet them….next time.

Just got back from going to McDonalds for breakfast following my weekly visit to the Sinnissippi Rose garden. Usually we go to the drive thru, though today there was a HUGE back-up. So instead of polluting the earth with the emissions from the car, I walked in. Not boasting…but what a simple thing to do to help take care of the earth!

What a night. Tonight I was at Katie’s Cup (7tth street) watching the 4th of July parade, after about a 30 min rain delay, the motorcycles started the parade off. Then, after all the motorcycles past, I witnessed a person standing on the motorcycle sporting a Super Man cape (have never seen anything like that before tonight). Who was this person? Better yet, what was this person trying to say? Was God part of this Super Man display?

Had a great vacation in the Northwoods with family. Got to spend some time with our Spiritual Growth Guy aka my second favorite uncle. We went on a voyage together just the two of us fishing one night. We had some good conversation underneath a spectacular sunset. I am so grateful for my family! 🙂

I am working as a camp counselor this summer. We have had two weeks of staff training, which has provided me the opportunity to get to know my co-workers and spend time in nature. I have experienced many moments of stillness and clarity during this time. One particularly striking moment was during a nighttime hike spent in silence. I felt an overwhelming sense of thankfulness for the people who have come into my life and for the experiences that have been made available to me.

Every Sunday when I leave church I am happy, smiling, and so uplifted. I thank Gd for bringing me to Good Shepherd. Little did I know, over 30 yrs. ago, when I met Barbara Bruesch, that I would become a member of her church. When she passed away, I inherited her pew. Thank You, Barbara! I always tell our children, everything in life happens for a reason–I now know why Barbara entered my life.

I am so grateful for our church and our wonderful church family. I have felt supported and encouraged over the many years that I have been a member. We, at Good Shepherd, have been blessed with wonderful pastors and members who have given much of their time to make a difference in many lives and also with an awesome music program. I have so many special memories of family and church events at Good shepherd that I will always cherish.

Getting ready for Mother’s Day has been especially hard for me this year for a variety of reasons. Today is Research Symposium Day so there are no classes and students, staff, and faculty are encouraged to go to presentations which feature this years’ student research. After several wonderful presentations, Pastor Annie took me aside and asked if I wanted to get some tea in town. She knew that I have been having a hard time this week and really wanted to know what was going on. We went to tea, and for the first time in awhile, I was able to talk about some things that have been very painful to me surrounding my mom’s death. I am so thankful for her presence on campus and for her genuine care and concern for me and my peers. Today is a good day. ❤

Had a most excellent time with my cousin going to a restaurant and a Milwaukee Brewer game. Even though the Brewers lost the game, the day was still a win with fellowship from my cousin. Good family interaction!

This past weekend my cousin and myself drove to Decorah Iowa to visit Jana at Luther College. I feel very blessed to have a cousin who helped me (driver) have a successful trip, plus the outstanding fellows hip we shared (Jana (SFN) and her 3 friends). This was a great opportunity for us older guys (me and my cousin) to “hang out” with a younger generation. Thank You!

Our campus was the site of two more hate crimes this past week. I am devastated and am emotionally tired. At times like these it is really easy to overlook the blessings, but I saw them in the students, (some) faculty, and staff. On Friday, over 600 students participated in a peaceful sit-in to demand institutional change from our administration. It is going to be a long road ahead, and it will be extremely difficult, but I have faith that change is coming. That is my blessing.

We were blessed with a sunny Saturday yesterday. Our home overlooks some beautiful farmland, but just before this is a field with all kinds of trash. My Grandson Griffin and I spent 2 fun hours in the sun picking up trash, including an empty trash can, and filled up 4 big containers of trash. We even heard a woman from her deck shouting :”Thank you” across from the field from her deck. It was a fun afternoon, and we woke up to a beautiful view of God’s green earth-trash free. Great day. I know that God has blessed me so much. I have a wonderful husband, great children, great grand children, terrific friends, and other family members. I’m blessed to have a job, a home, clothing, food, heat, water, and transportation. I was blessed with two wonderful parents, and I have a loving brother. Couldn’t ask for anything else. Amen

Came back from the church council meeting and heard that Jana said the weather is not safe to travel and recommended that we shouldn’t travel to Iowa for her concert, we didn’t go, and the roads became full of snow. It was a good thing to miss….thank you Jana!

As I hear of more of my friends being diagnosed with cancer I pray that they can be treated and healed by treatment of meds and especially by Gods healing hands. I am so blessed by good health that I am truly thankful for every day of my life!

This morning I feel very blessed because I feel more stable on my feet. Usually my body is experiencing some type of irregular movement (tremors). Maybe this is what they call a demon in the Bible? I’ve had these tremors for over 25 years, but this morning while doing my Saturday chores felt better than before. I will continue comment on this blessing both good/or bad.
